EDAG February 2022 call agenda

Agenda items:

  • Approve January minutes: approved

 

  • Timeline for May/June release (v 9.4)

    • HC & PY technicians for v 9.4 (“Mayday” release)

    • We should fix STOA upload: there is a bottleneck because only TE can upload to epidoc.stoa.org.

  • March meeting: Ticket Sprint! (NB: 15:00–17:00 GMT)

    • SD is TicketWrangler 

  • CIEGL call for posters → we missed the deadline. However, we should be keeping an eye on events and conferences in order to present EpiDoc activities ( MF).

    • Might want to keep in mind the question of what we are trying to do when we present to have a sense of what we might like to do before new deadlines emerge

      • It is equally important to be able to speak to both the TEI/broader DH community and the epigraphic community; should also think about reaching out more in papyrology and other fields 

      • Consider focusing on the pedagogical end of the topic.

    • Think about which conferences we’d like to submit posters/papers to, so that we can focus the topic.

  • XProc scenario (to generate urls to send to Wayback machine).

    • Should keep open since we’ll need to figure something out in advance of the next release process

      • add to ReleaseProc

      • MF to try and run script by February (see FR 120)

    • HC says: SVN comment: r2774 | sarcanon | 2020-09-14 15:47:26 -0400 (Mon, 14 Sep 2020) | 1 line -  BR #172 - Add XProc transformation scenario - N.B. requires OxygenXML >= 22.0 (which might explain why it didn't work for Gabby…)

      • NOTE: there are two different things here, which we have been conflating:

        • 1. See Bug 172: solution to which requires Xproc, copies the EpiDoc Example Template into a form that is downloadable as XML from the guidelines. This was implemented by ScottV, and works. (So long as release technician has Oxygen >= 22.)

        • 2. See FR 120: a need for a script to send all EpiDoc URLs to Archive.org for indexing in the Wayback Machine. ScottV suggested that RyanB’s script would require Xproc, and so held off on implementing it at the time. As far as I (GB) can see (a) this would be fine on the same terms as 1. above; and (b) it has not yet been implemented. Am I missing something?

  • Membership

    • EDAG might benefit from an Advisory or Editorial board/workgroup? Ideally this will take the shape of a Guidelines Board. EDAG will benefit most from a group of advisors and contributors who could participate in a Guidelines sprint. They would help revise, review, and focus the Guidelines. 

    • We can try it out after the next release. Could be asynchronous.
