Google Hangout call, November 20, 2018.

Agenda/Minutes:

Organization:

There will be two co-organizers who will collaborate to remind the group about meetings and formulate and agenda and chair the call.

Laura volunteers to act as organizer - she will schedule the call and send reminders that call is happening, she will ask the crew to contribute to agenda in a Google doc.

Emmanuelle will chair starting in December if we have a December meeting.

The chair will rotate every three months. The organizer is ongoing for now, but we should revisit in 2 or 3 months.

Agenda and Minutes:

Minuting will be crowdsourced in the same Google doc that the agenda will be prepared in, but we will designate a scribe at the beginning of each meeting, just in case. It will then be transferred to the wiki. 

EMy will go through minutes of last few+ meetings to generate an agenda template. (might add it in the wiki for future reference)

We think we need an EDAG Google folder. EMy checks with Gabby to see if one exists. 

Workshop reports:

Laura: mini-EpiDoc workshop for students done by Jonathan Prag in Oxford. Aim is to get students to the point where they can encode texts in I.Sicily corpus. Will reconvene weekly.

Polina: EFES workshop in Köln on sigillography

Emmanuelle: Digital epigraphy in Egypt French institute Marie Claire Beaulieu, and Michèle Brunet. Emmanuelle, worked with funeral cone seals.

HC: Digital Epigraphy workshop in Oxford, November 8-9. There will be a report published shortly. Discussion included survey of metadata captured by various digital epigraphy projects and some work on specifying an interchange format for metadata. This relates to both the Epigraphic Ontology work and the nascent epigraphy.info (follow-on from EAGLE).

General Discussion:

EMo asks how to improve/submit bug fix to stylesheets in GitHub. Recommendation that fork and issue pull request. Recommend that documentation be improved to explain how to submit improvements.\ 

We feel ashamed for not doing our tickets. We promise to prepare and do better in our next meeting.

Discuss how to create archival versions of Epidoc files. EMy working on this for IIP and Brown Digital Repository. EMo suggests adding ODD file as well.
