Minutes October 2014

Page history last edited by Gabriel Bodard 7 years, 10 months ago

Elli, Hugh, Pietro, Ryan, Scott, Tom and I (Gabby) met today and went through the bugs and feature requests outstanding on the SourceForge issue-tracker. We also reminded ourselves that the next meeting (November 20th) will be the kick-off for the next release cycle, so it would be great if as many of us as possible could manage to be there.

A few decisions we made:

1. Tom and Gabby will meet next week to discuss and try to resolve Bug 119, the problem with `<cit>` elements and how they are displayed in combination with XML example snippets in the guidelines.

2. Elli will create a ticket in the TEI issuetracker to request that in future whoever is responsible for the TEI XSLT (previously known as "Sebastian's XSLT") make a tagged version before any major changes, so that the EpiDoc Guidelines process can be inoculated against any breakage caused by currently relying on live SVN updates.

3. Re next month's release, we need to ask Charlotte and Simona if they can think of any particularly steep learning curve moment that they should warn Pietro about before he starts on the 20th...

4. Tom will arrange an internal apparatus XSLT sprint in November, starting with possibilities in the week of Nov 3 or the week of Nov 10. (Emmanuelle in particular ought to try to be around for that.)

5. Charlotte Roueché submitted a feature request (#79) re how to mark "out-dented" lines in an inscription. I've suggested that there is a relatively simple solution to this, and that we ought to add such guidance to the "line breaks" or "line direction" pages; but also that...

6. ...this is part of a bigger conversation, that John Bodel raised many years ago, of how we (a) handle spacing and other layout issues in different kinds of text, and (b) document these features. I'll create a new ticket to discuss that.

7. There's an outstanding ticket on Gabby to split the $apparatus-style parameter into two separate params for internal and external apparatus. That needs to be done before the November sprint (above), so I'll try to do this in the next couple weeks.
