Minutes January 2017

Page history last edited by Tom Elliott 7 years, 2 months ago Saved with comment

Present: Gabriel Bodard (GB), Hugh Cayless (HC), Scott DiGiulio (SDG), Tom Elliott (TE), Simona Stoyanova (SS), Charlotte Tupman (CT).

Apologies: Emmanuelle Morlock, Elli Mylonas, Scott Vanderbilt, Polina Yordanova.

  1. Next release will begin after next call (Feb 21), when hopefully Poli can be with us.
  2. EpiDoc training London (GB, SS): April 3-7, 2017. Athens (EMy, SS): March 27-31. Brown (SDG, EMy): early October 2017. Sofia (GB, SS), early Sept 2017? Might we propose something for AIA/SCS 2018 (Boston) or 2019 (San Diego)?
  3. Tunnel parameters: Scott Vanderbilt started working on this over the holidays, hopes to have something to show in the next couple weeks.
  4. Documenting persName/@role (e.g. consular/dating): SS will annotate ticket (95) with suggested values for @role, and we'll comment and then run past Markup.
  5. SDG reports on two tickets: how we encode space due to hole in support (108) and adopting TEI recommendations for text-direction (87). We largely agree with his recommendations. Will document and run past Markup.
  6. HC will add @source to ODD to chain with TEI ODDs (119), and document how to use this for other projects. We believe this will be a solution to (96) and also permit us to close (99).
  7. GB, HC, TE will report on their meetings re training materials for parameters and de-deprecating div-figure later this week.
    1. GB & TE discussed documentation and training on XSLT parameters: GB will produce some training material for the April summer school; TE will improve the existing XSLT documentation page.
    2. GB, HC, & TE discussed whether or not to re-enable div@type=figure and the conclusion was reached that we should not. Therefore, (117) has been closed. A series of new feature requests, aimed at providing better guidance and alternatives for the use of div@type=figure and facsimile, have been created:  (121), (122), and (123). The issue of encoding custodial history also came up in discussion, and a feature request to add corresponding documentation to the guidelines has also been created: (124).
  8. We discussed other open tickets, and will attempt to do further work by the next meeting, which  will be the last before the start of the release.
  9. Next call: Tuesday, Feb 21, 2017, 15h00 UTC.
